The gateway to the West Coast Main Line
Euston is where most trains to the north-west leave London. Avanti West Coast runs to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster and Glasgow, and London Northwestern Railway serves Milton Keynes, Northampton and the West Midlands. The Caledonian Sleeper to Scotland also leaves from here late in the evening. If you are travelling with luggage, a wheelchair or small children, a door-to-door car from SE19 saves a lot of effort.
A lot of changes by public transport
Getting from Gipsy Hill to Euston by rail normally means a Southern train into Victoria and then the Victoria line north, or London Bridge and the Northern line. Both work well for commuters, but the stairs and crowds are hard work with heavy cases. The Caledonian Sleeper leaves late in the evening and the first Avanti trains leave early in the morning, when connections from Gipsy Hill are thinner. A booked car fits around your train, not the other way round.
How the driver gets there
Euston is about 9 miles from Gipsy Hill. A common route runs through Brixton and Kennington, over Vauxhall Bridge or Westminster Bridge, and north through Marylebone or Bloomsbury to Euston Road. Our drivers plan around closures and event traffic, particularly around Westminster.
| Journey | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Gipsy Hill to Euston, outside rush hour | 35–45 minutes |
| Gipsy Hill to Euston, weekday peak | 50–65 minutes |
| Euston to Gipsy Hill, late evening | 35–45 minutes |
Typical estimates only. Some routes cross the Congestion Charge zone during charging hours; ask when you book whether this affects your fare.
Building work around the station
The area around Euston has had major building work for several years, which can change how cars get in and out. Our drivers know the current drop-off points, but it is still worth leaving a little extra time.
Travelling to Euston for the sleeper
The Caledonian Sleeper leaves Euston late in the evening. A car is the easiest way to arrive calm, with your bags, and on time. Tell us which departure you are catching and we will plan the pick-up to get you there with plenty of time to find your berth.
Travelling with reduced mobility
Euston is a large station with long walks from the road to some platforms. If you or someone you are travelling with needs help, you can book assistance with the train company in advance, and we can drop you as close as the road layout allows. Let us know about wheelchairs or walking frames when you book so we can send a suitable car with room to carry them.
Coming home through Euston
For collections, share the train you are on and where it is coming from. If Avanti trains are delayed, text or call 020 8659 9999 and the driver will adjust. We can meet you at an agreed spot close to the station entrance.
If you are travelling on from London, see our guides to King's Cross and St Pancras taxis or Heathrow airport transfers. We also take groups in our 7 seater minicab and collect from West Norwood and other nearby areas.
