A straight run south to Sussex
Gatwick is the nearest major airport to Gipsy Hill, and the drive is one of the simplest airport runs we do. The train is an option, but it still means getting to a station with your bags, and early flights often leave before the first useful services. A car booked in advance simply turns up outside, whatever the time.
Many of our customers fly with easyJet, British Airways, TUI and other holiday airlines from Gatwick, often very early in the morning. Because we work 24 hours a day, a 3am pick-up is a normal booking for us.
Route and typical journey time
From Gipsy Hill the driver usually heads through Streatham or Norbury to the A23, continues past Croydon and Purley and joins the M23 near Hooley. The M23 runs down to Junction 9, where the airport spur splits for the two terminals. In heavy traffic around Croydon, drivers may use the A22 through Caterham or the M25 instead.
| Journey | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Gipsy Hill to Gatwick, before 6am | 40–50 minutes |
| Gipsy Hill to Gatwick, weekday rush hour | 60–75 minutes |
| Gatwick to Gipsy Hill, midday arrivals | 50–65 minutes |
Typical estimates for a trip of roughly 21 miles. Always allow extra time on Friday afternoons and at the start of school holidays.
North Terminal or South Terminal?
Gatwick has two terminals joined by a free shuttle train. Airlines move between them from time to time, so check your booking confirmation rather than going by memory. Tell us the terminal when you book and the driver will take the right exit off the spur road. Gatwick charges for using the drop-off zones outside both terminals, so ask how that is covered when you get your quote.
Collection from Gatwick arrivals
For pick-ups, we track the flight number you give us. With meet and greet, your driver waits in the arrivals area with your name, then walks with you to the short-stay car park. If you land with a delayed bag or a long passport queue, send us a quick text and the driver will wait.
Why a pre-booked car makes sense for Gatwick
- Fixed fare agreed at booking, so rush-hour traffic on the A23 does not change your price.
- Door-to-door, with no change at Clapham Junction or East Croydon.
- Room for luggage, prams and sports equipment in an estate or MPV.
- Child seats on request when you tell us the children's ages.
- Card or cash payment.
Families, groups and nearby pick-ups
Holiday groups often need more space than a saloon offers. Our 6 seater taxi for families fits a family of five or six with their cases, and the 7 seater airport minicab is a good fit for larger groups. We pick up across the local area, including Upper Norwood and Crystal Palace, so friends from different streets can share one car.
