Why a pet friendly taxi matters
Buses and trains in London do allow many animals, but it is not always practical. A nervous cat in a carrier on a crowded train, or a large dog on a busy bus, is stressful for everyone. When a trip to the vet is urgent or your pet is unwell, you want a car that turns up and gets you there without a fuss.
Not every driver or car is suitable for every animal, so the key thing is to tell us about your pet when you book. That lets us send a driver who is happy to carry animals, in a car with enough space.
What to tell us when you book
- What kind of animal it is, and how many.
- For dogs, roughly how big they are.
- Whether your pet will be in a carrier or crate, or on a lead.
- If the trip is to a vet or emergency clinic, so we can prioritise it.
- Whether you need extra space for a crate, bed or bags.
We also ask owners to bring a blanket or towel for dogs to sit on, and to keep cats and small animals in a secure carrier for the whole journey. This keeps your pet safe and the car clean for the next passenger.
Common journeys we do with pets
Vet and emergency visits
Local vets, specialist referral clinics and out-of-hours emergency practices are some of the most common pet trips we do. Because we run 24 hours a day, we can help with a late-night emergency as well as a planned appointment.
Kennels, catteries and groomers
Before a holiday, many people take their pet to kennels or a cattery, then come back later for a pick-up. We can book both legs together. Groomers are another regular trip, especially for bigger dogs that are hard to manage on public transport.
Parks and days out
Crystal Palace Park, Dulwich Park, Sydenham Hill Wood and Norwood Grove are all popular dog-walking spots near SE19. If you want to try somewhere further afield, such as Richmond Park or the North Downs, a car makes it an easy trip.
Moving house and long trips
If you are moving home, the pets are often the hardest part. We can take you and your animals to your new address, or to a pet travel company for journeys abroad. Do all your cars take pets?
Not every car or driver is suitable for every animal, so please tell us about your pet when you book. We will then send a suitable driver and vehicle.
Can I take my dog in the taxi without a crate?
Many dogs can travel on a lead with a blanket to sit on. Tell us your dog's size when booking so we can make sure the car is suitable.
Can you take my pet to an emergency vet at night?
Yes. We work 24 hours a day. Call 020 8659 9999 and tell us it is an emergency vet trip.
Do you charge extra for pets?
Ask when you book and we will confirm the fare, including any cleaning or extra space needed.
Are assistance dogs welcome?
Yes, assistance dogs are always welcome. Letting us know in advance helps us plan the journey.
